THE BACKGROUND OF KWAKUNJE

Kwakunje is Zulu for “it was like this” and was created to be a living monument to the Zulu culture, that reflects the roots of the traditional village culture and places it in context with the 21st century. In 2019 it was taken over to become one of the most unique Bed & Breakfast of its kind. In March we started our big challenge: To maintain the purpose of the Kwakunje Village while turning the traditional huts into bedrooms with all the amenities of today's modern lifestyle. With the biggest amount of respect possible, we started to carefully transform this beautiful village into a small holiday resort. Every move, every purchase, every step was thought through to keep the magical atmosphere of this truly unique site. Convince yourself and experience this place of a million dreams.

THE AREA AROUND KWAKUNJE

Our Bed & Breakfast is located in Dundee, which is a small town in the second biggest province of South Africa, called KwaZulu-Natal. Dundee lies on a crossing between Johannesburg, Durban, Mozambique, and the Drakensberg region and is the perfect stop for your journey throughout this beautiful country.

Located on the Talana Hill, right next to the famous Talana Musem, Kwakunje allows a perfect view over the area and quick access to the town center, which is only 2 km away. After short driving distances, you get to explore some of the most famous battlefields in the country such as Blood River, Isandlwana, Elandslaagte, Spioenkop and many more.

Beautiful Game Reserves are just around the corner, like the Ingudlane Game Lodge, only 1.9 km away, or the Nambiti Big 5 Private Game Reserve, which is 50.8 km south of Dundee.
